Google Partners with Linux to Secure Chrome’s Future!

Ana sayfa / News

Google and the Linux Foundation have formed a significant partnership to enhance the open-source browser ecosystem. With the support of industry giants like Meta, Microsoft, and Opera, this new initiative aims to provide funding and support for the Chromium ecosystem. This collaboration marks a crucial step in ensuring the sustainability and future of Chromium. Here are the details…

Announced by the Linux Foundation, this partnership brings together industry leaders, developers, and academics to improve the Chromium ecosystem. Launched by Google in 2008 as an open-source project, Chromium serves as the foundation for popular browsers like Chrome. While 94% of contributions to the project have come from Google so far, this initiative seeks to distribute the financial and management responsibilities across a broader base of participants.

The Linux Foundation will oversee this initiative while maintaining Chromium’s current management structure. The goal is to provide a neutral platform to support the growth and sustainability of Chromium.

Google has emphasized the importance of this initiative, revealing that it invests hundreds of millions of dollars annually into the project. The company welcomes contributions from other tech giants and aims to find long-term solutions for Chromium’s sustainability, alongside financial support.

AMD will offer FSR 4 technology exclusively for this series!

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) technology will only be available for RX 9000 series graphics cards.

This collaboration also coincides with U.S. government antitrust actions targeting Google, including calls to separate Chrome from the company. With a market share of nearly 90%, Google faces significant scrutiny over its dominance in the browser market.

What do you think about this major partnership? Will this initiative be enough to secure Chromium’s future? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
